ABOUT US
Helen started
the original stud at Rockhill in 1965. The stud bred Palomino riding
ponies and Helen's first stallion was a pony called Apollo.
Helen and the Rockhill stud had great success with their palomino
riding ponies but realized that palominos were limited to ponies and
didn’t transfer to horses very well.
In an attempt to move the stud into bigger horses Helen started
looking at the Irish Draught.
As Rockhill always produced high quality ponies she was on the look out
for some very smart mares and a stallion to help her continue with
the quality that she has always produced.
Rockhill has always sold their horses as youngsters and in
particular as yearlings.
Whilst looking at the Irish Draft Helen realized that it was hard to
get a foal that looked good
and you really had to sell them as a 3 year old as they were so slow
to mature.
This was something that Helen didn’t really want to do as they were
not set up to deal
with large quantities of young stock ranging from foals to four year
olds.
Helen started
looking further afield and in 1978 found exactly what she was
looking for in the Hanoverian. It was new to Scotland and there were
not many of them in the U.K.,
but she could see the potential for the breed in producing high
quality horses that could easily do a vast array of disciplines.
Hanoverians excel at Dressage with their floating elegant paces and
their powerful athletic bodies also lends themselves to excel at
Show jumping.
Hanoverians are still and have always been competing at the highest
levels in all major
disciplines within the horse world, and the blood lines that Helen
has in her stock are
some of the best in the world with grand parents and horses that she
has produced
and sold from Rockhill competing at BSJA-A, world class Dressage as well
as

come from the best show jumping , Eventing and Dressage blood lines
that you can get in the Hanoverian world , so when we boast that you

Our horses range fom 15,1 hh to 16,3 / 17 hh. Our horses excel in working
